THE PERFECT CRUISE COMBINATION – TRAVELLING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY  (See Cruise News pages 6/7)

What better way to start 2009 than to plan a holiday – and combining the pleasure of a travel experience with travelling with friends, or family, or both. Mundy Cruising has some ideas to help create those special memories, or celebrate a special occasion.

The attraction of choosing to cruise in a group is whatever the type of holiday preferred, a holiday at sea offers all the solutions – from the physical appeal of the ship selected and its facilities, to the ‘wish list’ of places to visit en route.

Depending on the size of the group – whether family, or friends – the ultimate is to charter a vessel exclusively. At sea the choice can be made from the more intimate ships of SeaDream Yacht Club (110 guests), Wind Star or Wind Spirit (140 guest), or French ships, the 90-guest Le Levant, or 64-passenger Le Ponant.

As an alternative, on SeaDream it is also possible to book group accommodation taking just one of the three decks of the yacht ship. For 2009 Crystal Cruises have re-introduced their very special Family Memories on selected sailings. There are a host of benefits in addition to the 11th person in a family group travelling free and prepaid gratuities for all members of the party; and private dinners or cocktail parties can be arranged on  board.

If just a little more encouragement is needed before making that final decision, Mundy Cruising recommends taking a taster cruise, a short sailing to ‘test out the waters’. In 2009 some opportunities include voyages with: Holland America on Eurodam; Scotland sailing on the Hebridean Princess; or 4-nights on board Cunard’s Queen Victoria.

Many of the cruise lines also operate recommend a friend programmes – from Silversea and Regent Seven Seas, to Fred Olsen and Hapag LloydSee Cruise News page 5.
